Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, September 1, 2022) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified two suspects in the murder of Daquarius Malik Jackson.

On August 17, 2022, Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) detectives arrested Johnny Williams (DOB 06/09/1993) for the murder of Jackson.

On August 31, 2022, VCAT detectives arrested Antonio Tomkins (DOB 01/31/1991) for the murder of Jackson.

Both suspects were charged with 1st Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Shooting into Occupied Property – Inflicting Serious Injury. Williams was additionally charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, May 13, 2022) – The victim in this case has been identified as Daquarius Malik Jackson (DOB 02/02/1996). The victim's family has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, May 12, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 3600 block of Avalon Avenue in the Metro Division.

Around 5:30 p.m., officers and Medic responded to an assault with deadly weapon with injury call near this address. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
