Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, October 7, 2021) – Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service have arrested Maurice Brian Slowe Jr., DOB: 10/16/1997, following a brief stand-off in the Steele Creek Division.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m., October 7, 2021, deputies with the U.S. Marshal's Service responded to the 13700 block of Calloway Glen Drive in an attempt to serve outstanding warrants on Slowe. After Slowe refused to exit the residence, CMPD's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was requested for additional resources to de-escalate the situation.
At approximately 3:35 p.m., Slowe exited the residence and peacefully surrendered to SWAT officers. Slowe will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with First Degree Burglary, Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Felony Conspiracy, and Possession of Firearm by Felon.
No CMPD officers were injured or discharged their service weapons during this incident.
Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Negotiator Unit, Medic, and CFD also responded.
