Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have charged a sixteen-year-old male student for carrying a gun on the campus of Garinger High School.
On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at approximately 1:46 p.m., the School Resource Officer of Garinger High School was alerted by a school counselor that a student may be in possession of a gun on school property. The officer located the student on campus and conducted a search. The officer observed a gun in the student's pocket. The student, identified as Del'Marcus Walker, DOB: 09/24/2002, was taken into custody by the officer without further incident. The gun was seized.
Walker was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Handgun by Minor, Altering a Gun Serial Number and Gun on an Educational Property and transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. The report number for this incident is 20181030-1346-02.
