FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 5, 2018
The Charlotte Department of Transportation’s Street Maintenance Division crews have applied brine to bridges, culverts and most major thoroughfares. This is a precautionary measure in advance of any inclement winter weather. Brining activities will end at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon and salt trucks will be loaded for use if needed over the weekend or on Monday. Staff will continue to watch for any weather pattern changes and are prepared to mobilize should the need arise.
Citizens should report icy road conditions by calling CharMeck 311. Actual emergencies and accidents should be called in to 911.
Visit our website under Winter Weather Preparedness and see our Ice and Snow Plan for more information. For service impacts related to inclement weather, visit the City’s winter weather information page at http://charlottenc.gov/emergency/Pages/default.aspx.
