CATS to Suspend Rail Service for Maintenance
CATS Shuts Down Rail for 4th Annual Maintenance Weekend
Charlotte, N.C. – The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will temporarily suspend rail service, including the LYNX Blue Line and CityLYNX Gold Line, on October 15 and October 16 to conduct preventative and routine maintenance. To ensure reliability of the rail infrastructure, CATS maintenance crews will perform necessary repairs of the rail infrastructure including track work, track bed, signal crossing and signal system work throughout the weekend.
"Regular rail maintenance is crucial for creating a rail system that will last for years to come." Said CATS CEO John Lewis. "We appreciate the community's patience during this time. By suspending rail service, we can improve the reliability of our system for the future."
Normal service will end at 2 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 and resume at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 17. CATS will provide alternative transit service via LYNX Connector and CityLYNX Connector buses.
For more information about LYNX Connector and CityLYNX Connector buses, riders can visit RideTransit.org. For questions or concerns, community members can speak to CATS Customer Service at 704-336-7433(RIDE).
