Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Armed Robbery Unit have charged Rodriques Qwayshawn Walker, DOB: 02/01/1993, for his role in these two robberies.
On Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 7:56 p.m., the unknown suspect entered the Metro PCS business, located at 3124 Eastway Drive. The employee stated that the suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money from the victim business. Once the suspect obtained the property he fled the scene. (2016-0116-1956-00)
On Monday, March 07, 2016, at 7:45 p.m., the unknown suspect entered the Metro PCS business, located at 3124 Eastway Drive. The employee stated that the suspect threatened them with a knife and demanded money from the case register. During the robbery the suspect attempted to open the cash register but was unsuccessful and left the store without obtaining any property. The suspect was observed getting in to a vehicle. No one was injured during these robberies. (2016-0307-1943-00)
As a result of information and evidence gathered during these investigations, detectives with the Armed Robbery Unit identified Walker as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. Earlier today, detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested Walker without incident and transported him to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Armed Robbery Unit Detectives.
Upon completion of the interview, Walker was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
