Cornelius, NC – A
NO SWIMMING advisory was lifted today for a portion of a cove on Lake Norman.
The “No Swimming” advisory was issued on June 16, 2022 after an estimated 600 gallons of untreated sewage was discharged from a damaged pipe on Meta Road in Cornelius to a cove on Lake Norman. The damage was caused by a private contractor while performing horizontal directional drilling. The pipe has been repaired and the discharge discontinued.
On June 17, 2022, laboratory results were received for water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ staff revealing that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the
NO SWIMMING advisory has been lifted.
