Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services added another accolade to its list of 2019 accomplishments, earning the "Natural Systems Project of the Year" award for its work on the Reedy Creek Stream Restoration project, located in northeast Charlotte. The award was presented by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

This project restored, enhanced and preserved over 40,000 feet of stream, improving both water quality and aquatic habitat. Additionally, the stream bank heights were lowered and reconnected to the natural floodplain.

Storm Water Services used a progressive design-build approach, resulting in a shorter construction schedule and a successful project the community.

A public ribbon-cutting celebration was held in June. The site is located within Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve.
