Charlotte-Mecklenburg has more than 50 named creeks that span more than 3,000 miles. The abundance of such a precious natural resource is the reason that
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is celebrating its fifth annual
Creek Week. From Saturday, March 18, through Saturday, March 25, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services invites you to dive deeper into the history and importance of our creeks as we go "Into the Waters" with a week full of fun learning opportunities and volunteer events.
Storm drains lead directly to our creeks without any treatment, and a tremendous amount of trash, pet waste, oils and other debris end up in our creeks each year. Creek Week provides an opportunity to learn about and positively impact our creeks.
There is something for everyone at Creek Week including:
A hike along one of our creeks to see a beautiful ecosystem come to life.
Family Storytime where the whole family can enjoy stories and songs with Stormy the Turtle.
Creek cleanups where you can get involved directly and help protect our creeks.
And much more!
Events will take place throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Make sure to
check the calendar and sign up for our events!
