Clt development center staff

The City of Charlotte unveiled its new “one-stop shop” development center to create a more efficient and streamlined permitting process for land development customers.

The new business-friendly center establishes a collaborative, problem-solving, and customer-centric experience for developers. City staff involved in the land development process will work in a collaborative environment to provide an efficient, responsive, and coordinated experience that fosters collaboration between customers and staff on all projects in a timely, consistent and predictable manner.

Staff have gone through a series of training over the past 6 months to develop a common set of customer service expectations, performance metrics and culture.

Developers and their agents will have access to staff from all departments providing land development services in one centralized location, including Planning, General Services, Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT), CLT Water, Fire, and Innovation & Technology departments. City work teams in the space include Plan Review Coordinators, Subdivision, Zoning, Erosion Control, Construction Inspection, and Urban Forestry as well as Development Plan Review teams from CDOT, Fire, and CLT Water.

The approximately 10,000 square foot space is a representation of the center’s goals in its modern feel with numerous kiosks, huddle and conference spaces for collaboration as well as integrated technology.
