CHARLOTTE, N.C (Sept. 6, 2022) –Surrounded by family, friends and members of the Charlotte community, Mayor Vi Lyles and all 11 members of the Charlotte City Council were sworn in on Tuesday night at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.
Incumbent at-large members Dimple Ajmera and Braxton Winston were re-elected to their third terms. New at-large members include James Mitchell and LaWana Mayfield.

Braxton Winston was chosen by colleagues to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in a unanimous vote.
Departing City Council members Greg Phipps, Julie Eiselt, Matt Newton and Larken Egleston delivered their farewell remarks in the chamber.
In addition to the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Lyles honored Michael Marsicano with the Mayor's Award in honor of Richard Vinroot and Malcomb Coley with the Mayor's Award in honor of Harvey Gantt, recognitions designated for individuals whose contributions have made the City of Charlotte a better place.
