CITY OF CHARLOTTE WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARD recognized for strategic alignment with citizens’ needs 

Charlotte, NC — The City of Charlotte Corporate Communications & Marketing department earned an International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Award of Merit for The website was created to support the City’s “In the Loop” public information campaign to keep the local community informed about City services affected by the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

The award was presented on June 24 in New York City during the 2013 IABC World Conference Gold Quill Awards Gala. The awards program received more than 800 entries across the globe, of which 250 were chosen as winners. The Corporate Communications & Marketing team were recognized by judges for their “consistent branding, simple messaging and …overall great strategy and results.”

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Kim McMillan, director of Corporate Communications & Marketing with the City of Charlotte. “The team worked so hard on the ‘In the Loop’ campaign, and the website was at the center of all our efforts to keep citizens engaged and informed. To be recognized on a global level like this is very gratifying.”

The IABC Gold Quill program was established more than 40 years ago to recognize the best examples in business communication from around the world. Entries are judged on technical excellence, creativity and innovation, effectiveness in identifying and responding to an organization’s or community’s needs, the delivery of measurable outcomes and the overall success of the project.
