CFD In the Community

The Charlotte Fire Department is an important member of the Charlotte-area community. Our employees live and work in Charlotte, in Mecklenburg County, in nearby towns and cities. They participate in fundraisers, sporting events, parades and work with local students to teach them about fire service.

Choosing to be a firefighter, or to work in the fire department, means someone is dedicating his or her life to protecting and serving others. Our front-line staff put their lives on the line every day, and that selflessness extends outside the workplace.

From the nationally known Pipes and Drums Band to the Honor Guard, from the Explorer Program to Camp Ignite to the pink fire truck supporting the fight against cancer named the Pink Lady, the Charlotte Fire Department reflects its vision: To continue to meet the demand for efficient and effective emergency service delivery with allotted resources, while demonstrating a spirit of cooperation and collaboration within the City of Charlotte and the Fire Service.
