The City of Charlotte will unveil its draft
Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan and host a screening of "Back to the Future" at a drive-in community meeting on Saturday, Oct. 31. Residents are invited to review the draft plan and provide feedback before the plan is presented to Charlotte City Council for adoption in April 2021.
The Drive Into Charlotte's Future meeting will take place in the parking lot of the Park Expo, 800 Briar Creek Road, beginning at 2 p.m. on Oct. 31. Guests can register to attend at
2040drivein.eventbrite.com. Spanish translation services will be provided.
Guests will remain in their vehicles throughout the meeting. Upon arrival, they will receive tote bags with meeting materials. Event staff will direct guests through the event, to information booths and presentations where guests will learn about and discuss the draft plan. The last station will feature a live DJ and a short, on-stage presentation by City of Charlotte staff.
The meeting will be available in four identical sessions. Guests are asked to arrive up to 30 minutes early for their preferred session and download the
Kahoot! mobile app to vote and participate during the meeting. The session times will be:
Session 1, 2-3 p.m.
Session 2, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Session 3, 5-6 p.m.
Session 4, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Guests and families attending the last session are invited to stay for a drive-in screening of "Back to the Future," in celebration of Charlotte's bright future.
Held in accordance with current restrictions and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the drive-in meeting will be a safe alternative to Halloween and trick-or-treating, as well as a forum for public feedback.
