Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)
The goal of Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) is to provide support for resource-constrained law enforcement agencies by tapping civilian volunteers to assist with administrative and non-enforcement responsibilities, keeping officers free for frontline duty.
Volunteer responsibilities with VIPS include:
Patrolling City parks and School zones
Coordinating graffiti removal programs
Directing traffic
Relocating radar trailers
Assisting in abandoned vehicle removal
Conducting vacation checks at residences
