Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, November 28, 2023) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified a 13-year-old juvenile as a suspect in this case.

 

During the afternoon hours of Monday, November 27, 2023, the juvenile suspect was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile was charged with 1st Degree Murder and was transferred into the custody of the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.

 

The victim’s next of kin have been notified of the arrest.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, October 8, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2900 block of Baltimore Avenue in the Westover Division.

 

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, shortly after 9:00 p.m., Westover Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 2900 block of Baltimore Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by MEDIC to Atrium-Main with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced deceased in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 8, 2023.

 

The victim has been identified as Maurice Moore (DOB: 03/17/1993). The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.       

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
