Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, October 8, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as J’Karri Marquise Anderson (DOB: 07/19/2004). While Detectives were investigating this incident, Christopher Franks (DOB: 02/13/2002) arrived at the CMPD Law Enforcement Center requesting to speak to detectives.  Upon detectives concluding their interview with Franks, he was placed under arrest and charged with Murder.

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the victim’s death and the suspect’s arrest.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, October 6, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3700 block of W. WT Harris Blvd in the University City Division.

 

On Friday, October 6, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., University City Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 3700 block of W. WT Harris Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by MEDIC to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

Preliminary information indicates that the incident originated inside of the Wendy’s restaurant at this location and involved two employees. All involved parties have been identified, and Detectives are not currently seeking any other suspects.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
