Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North  Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, August 6, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Rudolph Hernandez (DOB: 12/18/1983). Mr.  Hernandez’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

A person of interest has been identified and we are not looking for any additional suspects. 

While officers are not currently looking for additional suspects in this case, the investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, August 5, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8900 block of Firestreak Drive in the North Division.

On Saturday, August 5, officers responded to a Domestic Violence assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 8900 block of Firestreak Drive.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD, Medic and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
