Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, September 17, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) have arrested and charged a local track coach in a Crimes Against Children investigation.

On Tuesday morning, September 17, 2024, the CMPD detectives arrested Mr. Daszmar Lammon Lockhart, 37, without incident.  Mr. Lockhart was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to speak with detectives.  After the interview, he was charged with the following:

  • Statutory Rape of a Child 15 years of age or Younger (1 count)
  • Indecent Liberties with a Child (4 counts)
  • Statutory Sex Offense with a Child 15 years of age or Younger (2 counts)

In early September 2024, an adult victim reported to police that she was sexually assaulted on multiple occasions by a former track coach.  The victim identified Mr. Lockhart as the suspect.  The case was then assigned to the CMPD’s Crimes Against Children (CAC) Unit.

During the investigation, two additional victims came forward and disclosed that they too were sexually assaulted by the suspect as juveniles. The victims, all of whom are females, were 11, 14 and 15 years old at the time of the assaults.

As a result of the investigation, detectives developed probable cause and obtained arrest warrants against Mr. Lockhart.

Mr. Lockhart owns and operates his own track and field training company, “Lock Nation Athletics” and has a travel track team. Two of the victims in the case are from Charlotte, one is from Fayetteville, but there may be more across the state.

Additionally, Mr. Lockhart has a prior conviction for Disseminating Obscenity in 2019.  The conviction stems from an incident involving a minor at a grocery store in Cabarrus County.

Detectives with the CMPD’s CAC Unit believe there could be more victims.  Anyone who may have been a victim regardless of the date of the incident is urged to contact Detective Gose at 704-336-7495.  Any person with additional information about this case can submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or by visiting http://charlottecrimestoppers.com/.
