Suspect In Multiple Violent Crimes in Charlotte Arrested in Union Co.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday October 22, 2024) – A collaborative investigation between the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Crime Gun Suppression Team (CGST) and Metro Division Detectives led to the arrest of 19-year-old Jaylin Johnson and seizure of numerous firearms.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Mr. Johnson was located and arrested in Union County with the assistance of the Union County Sheriff’s Office for 20 outstanding warrants including Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling. The violent crimes were committed in the Metro, Freedom and North Divisions. 

A total of six firearms were seized at the time of Mr. Johnson’s arrest.  Additionally, multiple charges are pending for weapons violations.

As a result of this great collaborative effort, an armed violent offender is now in custody.  Mr. Johnson is currently being held in the Union County Detention Center.
