Suspect Arrested in Sexual Assault Investigation in the South Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, January 24, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have arrested a suspect in a sex assault investigation in the South Division.
On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, shortly after 10:30 a.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s South Division responded to a breaking and entering call for service in the 10200 block of Chilvary Drive. Upon arrival, officers heard screaming inside the house and immediately made entry. They encountered a male suspect and quickly took him into custody. Upon further investigation, it was determined the suspect broke into the adult female victim’s home through a window and began sexually assaulting her. The victim’s child was in the residence at the time and contacted 9-1-1. The child was not physically victimized by the suspect.
The suspect is identified as Santerius Qwayshawn Allen (DOB 10/26/1991). Allen was transported to the Law Enforcement Center at 601 East Trade Street and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, 1st Degree Kidnapping, 2nd Degree Rape, 2nd Degree Sex Offense, Sexual Battery and Assault on a Female.
