Suspect Arrested in Multiple Indecent Exposure Cases on Greenways

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, January 19, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested and charged Nicholas Mermigas (DOB 09/21/1984) in five separate indecent exposure incidents along the McAlpine and McMullen Creek Greenways.
On Monday, January 15, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., South Division officers responded to an indecent exposure call for service in the 8400 block of Tifton Road. The female victim advised that the suspect exposed himself to her as she was walking along the McMullen Creek Greenway. The victim was physically unharmed. The victim described the suspect as a male wearing dark clothing and dark shoes. The suspect also had a bicycle.
Officers searched the area in an attempt to locate the subject but were unable to locate him.
During the course of the most recent investigation, detectives were able to determine that Mr. Mermigas matched the description provided by victims in all five cases. The victims in those cases also reported that the suspect exposed himself to them as they were walking along the greenway.
On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Mr. Mermigas was arrested and charged.
The CMPD continues to have an increased presence along all greenways in CMPD’s jurisdiction.
