UPDATE: Public’s Assistance Requested In Missing Persons Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, July 15, 2024) – Mr. McCarthy has been located unharmed and reunited with his family.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, July 14, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Person Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 82-year-old Elijah McCarthy.

Mr. McCarthy was last seen on July 14, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., at Nordstrom Rack located at 9567 South Boulevard, Charlotte. Mr. McCarthy was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and tan pants. Mr. McCarthy was last seen driving his 2021White Nissan Sentra with Connecticut license plate 9AKVFO.

Mr. McCarthy has been diagnosed with Early-Onset Dementia, and a Missing and Endangered Alert has been issued. 

Anyone with information on Mr. McCarthy’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
