Update: Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation

Update: Mr. Sherwin returned home and has been reunited with his family.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, September 21, 2023) – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Missing Persons Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 86-year-old David Barnett Sherwin. 

The call for service came in at 7:33 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023.  Mr. Sherwin was last seen on Virginia Avenue in his vehicle at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning.  Mr. Sherwin is currently operating a gray 2016 Honda CRV with North Carolina License Tag Number: YYR-8289.  Mr. Sherwin was last seen wearing a white/blue printed shirt and dark jeans.

Mr. Sherwin suffers from a cognitive impairment and a Silver Alert has been issued.

Anyone with information about Mr. Sherwin’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
