UPDATE: Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation

UPDATE: Mr. Mcwhirter was located overnight unharmed and reunited with his family.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday June 02, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Person Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 67-year-old Jimmy Dale Mcwhirter.

Mr. Mcwhirter was last seen driving his bright red 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback with North Carolina license plate NXD-7255 (pictured below).  Mr. Mcwhirter was last known to be driving in the 9900 block of Wilkinson Boulevard headed towards Belmont, North Carolina today around 5:45pm.  Mr. Mcwhirter suffers from a cognitive impairment and family members are concerned for his safety and are seeking information on his whereabouts.  A silver alert has been requested on his behalf.

Anyone with information on Jimmy Dale Mcwhirter’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
