Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, April 2, 2025) – As a result of this continued investigation in the death of Loren Garnet Dudley, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) identified Rebecca Oxendine, 42, as a suspect and obtained warrants for her arrest.
On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested Oxendine without incident.
Oxendine was taken to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) where she was interviewed by homicide detectives.
At the conclusion of this interview, Oxendine was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Oxendine has been charged with Murder and Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, January 22, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2500 block of Catalina Avenue in the Metro Division.
On Wednesday, January 22, shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 2500 block of Catalina Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a life-threatening injury. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also assisted.
