Case Update: Missing Person Investigation Update

 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, Jan. 15, 2024) – On Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, shortly before 12:00 p.m., as CMPD detectives were continuing the search efforts for Mrs. Nancy Brown, they located the deceased remains of a female, believed to be Mrs. Brown, in a nearby creek in the area of the 4700 block of Kirkgard Trail in the North Division.

 

The Medical Examiner’s office will be conducting an investigation into the cause of death to include the positive identification of the deceased. The CMPD Homicide unit will be conducting a death investigation in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s office.  The lead Det is P. Barnett. We would like to thank the Charlotte Fire Department that assisted in today's search and recovery efforts.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective. Detective P. Case Update: Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, December 14, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit continue to request the public’s assistance in locating 79-year-old Nancy Brown.

 

Mrs. Brown was last seen by her family at their residence around midnight in the 7000 block of Neuhoff Lane on Saturday, October 9, 2023.  It is believed Mrs. Brown may have taken a Greyhound bus back to Brooklyn, NY. 

 

Detectives with the CMPD’s Missing Persons Unit is also requesting our media partners to continue to report on Mrs. Brown’s disappearance and share the information with your affiliate stations in the following markets that are along scheduled stops on the bus route back to New York:

 

  • Wilmington, NC
  • Raleigh, NC
  • Richmond, VA
  • Washington, DC (Union Station)
  • New York, NY (Midtown – 31st St & 8th Ave; Chinatown (28th St); NYC Port Authority)

 

In addition to the initial photo provided of Mrs. Brown, please see and use the new photos copied below of Mrs. Brown. 

Any residents or business owners, in the area of, W.T. Harris, Sugar Creek Rd/Browne Road, David Cox Road and Davis Lake Pkwy are asked review surveillance footage from Saturday, December 9, 2023, between midnight and 6:00 a.m. 

Mrs. Brown suffers from a cognitive impairment and a Missing and Endangered Alert has been issued.

Last Known Location: 7000 Neuhoff Lane, Charlotte

Clothing Description: Possible dark slacks, dark shirt, with a teal jacket and a white hat and black sneakers

Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, December 09, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 79-year-old Nancy Brown.

Mrs. Brown was last seen by family at their residence around midnight this morning at about the 7000 block of Neuhoff Lane. Mrs. Brown is not from Charlotte; she is in town visiting family from NYC for the holidays. It is possible the victim became confused and may be trying to get back to NYC.

Mrs. Brown is suffering from a cognitive impairment and a Missing and Endangered Alert has been issued.

Anyone with information on Mrs. Brown’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
