Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, July 31, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Max Antunez, 27. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, July 29, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 800 block of Shadow Elm Drive in the Westover Division.
On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 1:54 a.m., Westover Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 800 block of Shadow Elm Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with apparent stab wounds. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Detectives are currently speaking with a person of interest. The CMPD is not looking for any additional suspects at this time.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
