Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 19, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Jamal Dade, 45. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified, Shemeka Nicole Dade, 41, as the suspect in this case. Ms. Dade was arrested for Murder. She was then transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 19, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4800 block of South Tryon Street in the Westover Division.
On Friday, April 19, shortly after 3:00 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 4800 South Tryon Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. Medic transported the victim to a local hospital and later pronounced the victim deceased. Officers are not currently looking for any additional suspects.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and CFD also responded.
