Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, December 31, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Diondre Bittle, 33. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 30, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8200 block of Dave McKinney Avenue in the University City Division.

On Monday, December 30, shortly after 9:15 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 8200 block of Dave McKinney Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and MEDIC also responded.
