Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, December 24, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2000 block of Arbor Crest Court in the University City Division.

 

On Sunday, December 22, shortly after 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a domestic violence assault call for service in the 2000 block of Arbor Crest Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had been physically assaulted. Medic transported the victim to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries on Monday, December 23. 

 

The victim in this case has been identified as Edward Sansone Jr., 65. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.

 

As a result of this continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have identified Daniel Sansone, 29, as a suspect in this case.

 

Sansone has been arrested and charged with Murder.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
