Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 30, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Wonah Abu-Baby Konte Jr., 35. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 30, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 7800 block of University City Boulevard in the University City Division.
On Sunday, December 29, shortly before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 7800 block of University City Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Atrium Main and pronounced deceased. Two additional subjects are being treated at Atrium Health University for gunshot wounds.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and MEDIC also responded.
