Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, October 25, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg-Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit have identified and charged a suspect in connection to the murder of Mr. Justice Timmons.

On Friday, October 25, 2024, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Asiel Springer, 25.  Mr. Springer was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to speak with detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Springer was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

  • Murder
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

The victim’s next of kin have been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the University City Division 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, October 16, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 400 block of Falling Waters Ct in the University City Division.

On Wednesday, October 16, shortly after 10:00 p.m., officers responded to an Assault – Physical call for service in the 400 block of Falling Waters Ct.  Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic assisted.
