Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, December 16, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Jah’Zir Elijah Jackson (DOB: 09/22/2005). The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged, Al-Terrik Bogar (DOB: 09/27/2005), in connection to this case. Mr. Bogar has been charged with
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
- Attempted Murder
- Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property for his actions while shooting the second victim
Mr. Jackson’s next of kin has also been notified of the arrest.
While officers are not currently looking for additional suspects in this case, the investigation into this case is active and ongoing. Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, December 15, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2300 block of Apex Landing Way in the Steele Creek Division.
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the 2300 block of Apex Landing Way for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service. Upon arrival, officers located two male victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by MEDIC to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. One of those victims was later pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene. Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
