Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, December 14, 2024) – As a result of continued investigation in the death of Lashunda Shmicka McLendon, 42yo, detectives with Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT), Metro Division and Freedom Division located and arrested a suspect.
Ebonee Makeesa Rhaman, 43yo, was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) and interviewed by homicide detectives.
At the conclusion of the interviews, Rhaman was transferred into custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect is charged with the following:
- Murder
- Possession of Firearm by Felon
The victims next of kin have been notified of these arrests.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, December 13, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 300 block of Archdale Drive in the Steele Creek Division.
On Friday, December 13, shortly after 10:00 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 300 block of Archdale Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search Unit responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
