Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, January 27, 2024) – The victims in this case have been identified as Daron Markell Polk (DOB: 07/05/1991) and Walter Humberto Ramos Murillo (DOB: 01/21/1998). The victims' families have been notified of their deaths.
During the early morning hours, a third victim succumbed to his injuries as a result of this incident. The third victim has been identified as Nighstarr Trevon Luper (DOB: 05/14/1998).
Mr. Luper's family has been notified of his death.
The remaining victim remains in stable but critical condition.
CMPD is not looking for anyone else related to this investigation.

Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, January 27, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8600 block of Lodge South Circle in the Steele Creek Division.
On Saturday, January 27, 2024, shortly after 3 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 8600 block of Lodge South Circle. Upon arrival, officers discovered 4 victims with gunshot wounds. Medic pronounced one victim deceased on the scene. Another victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also responded.
