Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Providence Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, December 14, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified and charged a suspect in connection to this case.
On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office (SC) located and arrested, Tyvon Dunlap (DOB: 03/24/2005), in Greenville, SC. Homicide detectives traveled to Greenville to interview Mr. Dunlap. At the conclusion of the interview, the suspect was charged with Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Once extradition is approved, Mr. Dunlap will be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Homicide Investigation in the Providence Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, November 17, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 800 block of Villa Court in the Providence Division.
On Thursday, November 16, 2023, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Providence Division officers responded to an ADW with Injury call for service in the 800 block of Villa Court. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC.
Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
