Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, July 10, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Santavius McBride (DOB: 09/05/1978).
Within an hour of the 911 call for service, Independence Division officers made contact with Marques McBride (DOB: 11/12/1999) in the parking lot of the Independence Division Patrol Office. Mr. McBride advised he wanted to turn himself in for a shooting. He was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown to speak with homicide detectives. Following the interview, Mr. McBride was charged with Murder and transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Ms. McBride’s family has been notified of her death and the suspect’s arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Friday, July 7, 2023) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 3800 block of Foxford Place in the North Tryon Division.
On Friday, July 7, 2023, shortly before 11 a.m., North Tryon Division and Eastway Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with injury call for service in the 3800 block of Foxford Place. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim. MEDIC responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Detectives have identified a person of interest and are conducting interviews.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC, and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
