Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, December 28, 2023) – The victims in this case have been identified as Tzion Dae (DOB: 12/12/2007) and Amir Kidd (DOB: 03/25/2008). The victims’ next of kin have been notified of their deaths.
Detectives with the CMPD’s Homicide Unit are not looking for any additional persons in connection to this case. Upon consultation with the Medical Examiner’s Office, additional details will be released.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, December 27, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4400 block of Merlane Drive in the North Tryon Division.
On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, shortly after 9:15 a.m., North Tryon Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 4400 block of Merlane Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by MEDIC to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and MEDIC also assisted.
