Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, July 3, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Teresa Anita Polk, 63.  Ms. Polk’s next of kin has been notified of her death.

 

Michael Eugene Ewing Sr., 65, was also located deceased on scene.  Mr. Ewing has been identified as the suspect in the murder of Ms. Polk. 

 

Due to the death of Mr. Ewing, this case will be listed as cleared due to death by offender.  Mr. Ewing’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the North Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, July 2, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4000 block of John Dale Lane in the North Division.

 

Shortly before 6:00 p.m., North Division officers responded to the 4000 block of John Dale Lane for an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The individuals were known to each other.

 

Both were pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC. 

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
