Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, April 10, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Xeniel Baez, 21. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 7, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2600 block of Druid Hills Way in the Metro Division.
On Sunday, April 7, shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 2600 block of Druid Hills Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Medic to a local hospital, where the victim was later pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
