Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 29, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1400 block of West Trade Street in the Metro Division.
On Thursday, February 29, shortly after 8:30 a.m., officers responded to an assist Medic call for service in the 1400 block of West Trade Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also responded.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
