Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, December 5, 2023) – As a result of the continued investigation and assistance from the community, detectives have identified, Myhijee Major (DOB: 11/16/2004), as a suspect in this case.

 

During the morning hours of Tuesday, December 5, Mr. Major turned himself into detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT).  He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to be interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Major was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

 

  • Involuntary Manslaughter

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, December 3, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 400 block of Keswick Avenue in the Metro Division.

 

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Metro Division officers responded to an ADW with Injury call for service in the 400 block of Keswick Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located one juvenile victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to investigate, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Medic and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
