Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Independence Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, September 16, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Chauncory Farmer, 19. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Independence Division 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, September 15, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1600 block of Hollow Drive in the Independence Division.

On Sunday, September 15, at approximately 1:21 a.m., Independence Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury call for service in the 1600 block of Hollow Drive.  The location is an Airbnb that was rented out for an event. Upon arrival, officers located three victims with apparent gunshot wounds.  The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.  MEDIC transported all three victims to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.  One victim was pronounced deceased by medical staff shortly after arriving to the hospital.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
