Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, August 13, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8900 block of Arlington Church Road in the Hickory Grove Division.

On Saturday, August 10, 2024, shortly after 4:20 p.m., Hickory Grove Division officers responded to a call for service for an unresponsive male in the 8900 block of Arlington Church Road. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound and pronounced the victim deceased. The male has been identified as Carlos Stanley Garcia Ramos, 23.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Missing Persons Unit, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.

Upon consultation with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office, this death has been ruled a homicide. The victim’s next of kin have been notified of his death and the updated case status.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
