Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 30, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Cameron Lackey, 31.
As a result in the continued investigation, Officers identified and arrested Michael William McAllister, 18, as a suspect in this case.
McAllister was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified his death and the suspect’s arrest.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by CMPD’s Public Affairs Division. Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 30, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 10300 block of Old Camden Road in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Sunday, December 29, shortly after 10:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 10300 block of Old Camden Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and MEDIC also responded.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
