Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, December 26, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4800 block of Shamrock Drive in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Wednesday, December 25, at 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a call for service in reference to a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 4800 block of Shamrock Drive. Officers located a vehicle down an embankment near the road. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a female driver with life-threatening injuries. MEDIC arrived and the driver was transported to Atrium Main. The driver was later identified as Kennedi Aniyah Flora Jones. Ms. Jones was pronounced deceased by hospital staff as a result of her injuries.
Detectives with CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, officers with the DWI Task Force, and Crime Scene Search were called to investigate and collect physical evidence. Homicide Unit detectives were later called to the scene.
Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded.
Ms. Jones’ next of kin were notified of her death.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
