Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, July 19, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Rashaka Prince, 18. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, July 18, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation the 6000 block of Cattail Court in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Thursday, July 18, shortly after 1:15 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 6000 block of Cattail Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. MEDIC transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
