Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, July 13, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Tavis Denzel Smith-Hogan, 31. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, July 12, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3400 block of Bonneville Drive in the Eastway Division.
On Thursday, July 11, 2024, shortly before 11:30 p.m., Eastway Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 3400 block of Bonneville Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with apparent gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
