Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, September 1, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit have identified and charged a suspect in connection to the murder of Mr. Ramirez Fuentes.
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Mr. Christian Daniel Sosa, 28. He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to speak to detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Sosa was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.
Mr. Fuentes’ next of kin have been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, May 12, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2200 block of Kilborne Drive in the Eastway Division.
On Sunday, May 12, just before 5:00 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 2200 block of Kilborne Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
